Maroon colored plastic.

Maroon colored plastic.

My friend Alex and I were getting our hair cut when my father texted me and told me to call him. I didn’t think much of it, just another call. I went to my contacts and scrolled down to "Dad", I press send just like every other time but this time was different, My phone rang and I continued talking to my friend just like I was before, then my face went blank. I was just sitting there with my mouth open and an expression as if I just saw a ghost. I listened to a recording telling me that “the number that you are trying to reach has been changed, disconnected or is not in service, if you feel that you have reached this recording in error hang up and try again” so push the red phone button and then the green phone twice in a row, I heard the same lady's monotone voice, I didn’t believe it and I though that maybe something was just wrong with his phone, so i go back to my contacts a scroll down to "Tammy"( my sister), pressed the green button once more and again the recording of that lady's voice is in my ear.

I stared blankly at black marble tiles, that were laid across the floor. I though about how he told me that he was going to suspend my phone if my bill was high again. I could not see anything but a black blur of the floor,my friend tapped on my shoulder a few times before I had realized it. She asked “ Brittany what happened?” The black blur came to a focus as I said “ my dad suspended my phone” when I said it out loud it felt more like reality.

My mind wondered off again “ he actually shut it off ,what am I going to do now, how will I get a hold of people, how can I get it back?” these thoughts continued to repeat through my mind. My stomach felt an empty sickness My hands held what was my most prized possession, covered in scratches and dents and now it was just a maroon piece of plastic and aluminum.
